What Happens If the Other Driver Involved in the Accident is Not Insured or Has Minimal Coverage?

This is where your UM/UIM Insurance will come into play. In this particular situation, it sounds like the person is either under insured, does not have enough coverage to protect you for the amount of damage you just have sustained in the accident, or that person may not have any insurance, whatsoever, and you need to be protected for your bodily injuries and damages you sustained as a result of the accident. This is where the UM coverage is critical to have on your own policy to protect you against drivers that are out there on the streets of Florida that unfortunately, do not have the appropriate coverage. Although it is mandatory in the state of Florida to have auto insurance, many drivers do not. Having ample UM coverage is what we recommend to all our clients.
